Sammi Smith是一位美国乡村女歌手。生于橘郡，长在南方，11岁辍学，15岁结婚，生了三个孩子，然后20几岁又离了婚，跑到纳什维尔的pub里去唱歌。在那里她遇到了赏识她的Johnny Cash，和哥伦比亚公司签下合约。接下去的日子马马虎虎，出了几首小hit，不温不火。直到70年代她发现了《Help me make through the night》，帮她拿了乡村榜第一名和格莱美。再后来，她和Willie Nelson和Waylon Jennings一起去德州outlaw了，Waylon说她是“Girl Hero”，她则把他的名字送给了自己新出生的儿子。
