从外表上看，蜜蜂巴瑞·B·拜森和其他的伙伴没有任何区别，但他对待未来却有着自己的想法。从大学毕业后，他和同学被分配到蜂房工业公司，成为一只毕生只能辛勤忙碌、四处采蜜的工蜂。巴瑞不愿过这种一眼就能看的到未来的生活，却似乎无力扭转局面。在第一次采蜜之行时，巴瑞遭遇一连串意外，更无数次险些丢掉性命。

他最终在美丽姑娘温妮莎的家中落脚，并和温妮莎成为好朋友。偶然机会，巴瑞发现蜜蜂辛勤工作得来的蜂蜜却被人类所“窃取”，这令他气愤不已，他决定行动起来，保护蜜蜂的果实……
