马修连恩《Heart of the refuge》

马修的作品源自于自然，也有关自然。即使是冰塊移动的声音，人们都说他的音乐里看得到“风景”。细听Matthew的作品，你会发觉出与其他新世纪乐人作品的不同。Matthew的音乐更加原声化，抛弃了许多合成器鼓捣出的玩意，而讲究用乐器的配合来制造效果。同样是表现自然美景，同样是非常精细地制作，ENYA、喜多郎的作品与Matthew的就是不一样。 Matthew涉足的音乐领域似乎更加广，Matthew也演唱，他的声音带着一丝哀伤，略有些沙哑，绝不声嘶力竭，却也充满力量。歌词往往流露出宁静安详的意境。比如他的“TheRiver”中这样写道：“穿越这北方森林，我悠悠行走，放下所有忧烦，远离色相与妄想。河水温柔，河水宽阔，洗去薄薄伪装，洗去劳苦与忧伤，让我回复完整。”这样的心灵问答在其他作品也可以听到。
