莎士比亚的戏剧真是历久弥新，西方影坛对莎剧的热潮始z終不減。「铁达尼号」的男主角李奧納狄卡皮欧就曾拍过現代版的「罗密欧与茱丽叶」。
「罗密欧与茱丽叶」搬上銀幕並不是第一次，早在約三十年前好莱坞就曾拍攝成电影，而且当时在世界各地都相当轰动，台湾当时的中文片名为「殉情記」。'A time for us'这首歌就是「殉情記」的主題曲，但是這首歌並未出現在电影中。原因是原來的配乐实在太动听，后来有人將其主題音乐填上歌詞，交由当时最紅的男歌星安迪威廉斯演唱，而成了一首畅销曲。
