红遍全球的《I Love Rock N' Roll》（我爱摇滚）最早是由英美组合乐队The Arrows的美国主唱Alan Merrill（阿兰·梅里尔）写于1975年，并录制发表了第一版。

阿兰·梅里尔1951年出生于纽约，出身于音乐世家，父母是爵士乐音乐家，14岁便开始音乐生涯。Merrill既是一名歌手，亦是贝斯手、作曲作词人、演员和模特儿，是一位多才多艺的艺人。1974年，Merrill在伦敦与鼓手Paul Varley和吉他手Jake Hooker组成了Arrows乐队。1975年，《I Love Rock N' Roll》诞生了，这首歌由Merrill和队友Jake Hooker创作。

美国摇滚女歌手Joan Jett（琼·杰特）1976年在英国巡演时在看到了The Arrows表演这首歌，并在1979年和Sex Pistols的两个成员一起录制了自己的版本。在1981年又和她自己的组合The Blackhearts（黑心人合唱团乐队）重新录制发布了这首歌，随即爆火，占据美国公告榜第一名七周之久，并被美国公告榜评为1982年年度歌曲第三名，单曲被美国唱片工业协会认证为白金，包含这首单曲的专辑销量超过200万张，在美国公告榜排名的200个最流行专辑中排名第二。Joan Jett于2016年正式入选格莱美名人堂。
