 蒂朵从小就是个音乐神童，十岁时她已经精通钢琴、小提琴的演奏。她的青少年时光，便是在偷听哥哥收藏的唱片，以及和学校里的古典乐团一起巡回全英演出中度过的。

十六岁时，她深深爱上了艾拉·费兹杰罗（ Ella Fitzgerald ）的音乐，而这样的热情终于令蒂朵从一个爱乐者转变成一个参与者。当时她白天从事创作出版的工作，晚上则开始和许多乐团在伦敦附近演唱，尽管她的 DJ 兼制作人哥哥洛罗（ Rollo ）一再告诫她千万别放弃白天的正职。不过她最后却在洛罗于九五年筹组的乐团之首张专辑《尊崇》（ Reverence ）当中初试啼声，担纲演唱了畅销曲“失眠症”（ Insomnia ）。这个乐团就是以荣获 Muzik 杂志五颗星满分评价的处女作，在全球各地创下五百万销售佳绩的“无信念”（ Faithless ）。

在接下来的两年中，蒂朵和“无信念”一起前往数十个国家巡回演出，经历了与以往身为古典乐团一员截然不同的日子。而每当蒂朵托着疲惫却亢奋的身心回到伦敦时，她便会着手为自己的创作录制一些试听带。这张发表于九九年的专辑《无天使》（ No Angel ）是由蒂朵与哥哥洛罗、瑞克诺威尔（ Rick Nowels ）和 Youth 共同担纲制作的。时代杂志赞扬此辑是“卓越、天籁般的音乐，是一张才气焕发的处女作”。滚石杂志称赞她为“年度风云人物之一”，而华盛顿邮报更形容她“嗓音高昂有如女神”。

  《Thank You 》出自 Dido 1999年的专辑“No Angel”，这首MTV获得了2001年度MTV 音乐录影带大奖最佳女艺人的提名。
