这首歌是电影《史密斯夫妇》中史密斯夫妻初识时跳舞的那段曲子。两人在夜色下随着节拍轻轻摇摆，华美浪漫到极致，然后就互相爱上了对方引出了下面荒唐但十分浪漫的事。
Mondo Bongo是西班牙语，在西班牙语，Mondo是巨大的意思，而Bongo是小鼓，合起来是“大鼓”的意思。Mondo Bongo其实是哥伦比亚古老的原住民音乐（西班牙语是哥伦比亚的语言），它真实的意思是“奔放与狂野”，引申自当地居民娱乐喜庆时演奏用的大鼓。 史密斯夫妇两是在战乱中哥伦比亚认识的，因此电影采用了“奔放与狂野”这首哥伦比亚老音乐作为插曲。
Mondo Bongo是由朋克代表班霸乐队The Clath的创作核心Joe Strummer带来的南美摇摆拉丁曲风，运用了REGGAE和古巴音乐等各种音乐元素，是一首经典的浪漫拉丁风格舞曲。
